Mission Initiatives
CONNECT with one another in community: Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the connectedness and corporate life of the Presbytery of East Tennessee, developing means of communication that will foster collegiality and trust, and strengthen relationships among member congregations. This new sense of connection will open us to new visions and dreams as the Spirit leads.
EQUIP congregations for faithful ministry: Provide resources, training and support to equip the Presbytery’s congregations for ministry, including a process by which the Presbytery will regularly involve sessions in conversations aimed at helping them clarify their own ministry and mission. Faithful attention will be focused on the needs and status of smaller churches; working in partnership with those congregations, we will respond to each unique situation with sensitivity, compassion and creativity.
SUPPORT our churches, pastors, and leaders: Support those who carry out ministry, education, and mission in the Presbytery and its member congregations.
SERVE God’s world in love, justice and peace: Promote and enable mission participation across the Presbytery, including the evaluation of current mission endeavors and mission funding.
