CONNECT with one another in community: Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the connectedness and corporate life of the Presbytery of East Tennessee, developing means of communication that will foster collegiality and trust, and strengthen relationships among member congregations. This new sense of connection will open us to new visions and dreams as the Spirit leads.
Purpose:
The CONNECT Mission Team will be responsible for creating systems, events and programs designed to enhance the sense of connectedness and flow of information within the Presbytery of East Tennessee. A primary goal of this team will be effective and frequent two-way communication among the congregations, mission teams and related groups of the Presbytery as well as with the Presbytery office itself. Among the responsibilities of this group will be:
- a communications plan
- vehicles for communication, including web site and print media
- regional and Presbytery-wide fellowship events
- a clearinghouse for information, opportunities and resources
The ultimate goal of the CONNECT team is to build a stronger sense of cohesiveness and partnership in ministry within the Presbytery of East Tennessee.
Members of the CONNECT Mission Team:
Leadership Council
- Six nominated to the leadership council of this mission team by the Committee on Nominations and approved by the Presbytery; one half clergy and one half laity; three year terms; eligible for re-election; elect own moderator.
- Executive Presbyter, ex officio
Ministry Groups
- Members as co-opted by the leadership council of this mission team, in consultation with the Committee on Nominations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a connection/communications plan that clearly states who we are and our vision for ministry together.
- Establish regular face-to-face communication with each of the congregations and entities of the Presbytery to share information and listen to concerns and needs (in conjunction with EQUIP Mission Team).
- Develop means of communication that are quickly and easily accessible to each Presbytery congregation and related entity, including an expanded website with pertinent and current information using state of the art technology and resources.
- Create regional and Presbytery-wide events for the purpose of fellowship and connection.
- Create opportunities for congregations to connect with one another in worship (in conjunction with EQUIP Mission Team).
- Create Presbytery-wide opportunities for service and mission (in conjunction with SERVE Mission Team).
- Create a clearinghouse for ideas, information sharing, and resources within the Presbytery.
