SERVE God’s world in love, justice, and peace: Promote and enable mission participation across the Presbytery, including the evaluation of current mission endeavors and mission funding.
Purpose:
The SERVE Mission Team will be responsible for evaluating the Presbytery’s mission funding priorities and advocating for support of these priorities through wise stewardship of all our resources. Working in collaboration with other mission teams, the SERVE Mission Team will develop a systematic process for listing and advertising mission opportunities available for the participation of congregations, work to build mission partnerships among congregations, and seek opportunities to enact a Presbytery-wide commitment to evangelism, peacemaking, and social justice.
Members of the SERVE Mission Team Leadership Group:
Leadership Council
- Six nominated to the leadership council of this mission team by the Committee on Nominations and approved by the Presbytery; one half clergy and one half laity; three year terms; eligible for re-election; elect own moderator
- Executive Presbyter, ex officio
Ministry Groups
- Members as co-opted by the leadership council of this mission team, in consultation with the Committee on Nominations.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and prioritize the Presbytery’s financial support of current and new mission opportunities, place them in rank order, and outline the Presbytery’s commitment to mission over a 3-5 year period.
- In collaboration with the CONNECT Mission Team, communicate ongoing needs and successes of mission opportunities.
- In collaboration with EQUIP Mission Team, empower churches to connect in partnership for mission.
- Establish a data bank of mission opportunities for individual or partner congregations, including the posting of this information on the Presbytery’s website and making this information available at Presbytery meetings.
- Pay special attention to denominational emphases, including mission opportunities available through Synod of Living Waters and the General Assembly.
- In collaboration with the EQUIP Mission Team, develop resources to further the goals of evangelism, peacemaking, and social justice in the Presbytery.
- Promote and support the campus ministries and church-related colleges within the bounds of the Presbytery.
