Membership of the Committee on Ministry:
- Twenty-one members nominated by the Committee on Nominations and approved by the Presbytery; term of three years and eligible for no more than two consecutive terms; in accordance with Book of Order (G-11.0501b), membership shall consist of nearly equal numbers of elders and ministers; elect own moderator; the Presbytery of East Tennessee designates a quorum of eight members
- Executive Presbyter, ex officio
Responsibilities:
- Receive information from the Support Mission Team concerning pastoral care needs of ministers, as appropriate
- Receive reports from the Equipping Congregations Mission Team regarding Book of Order required visits to sessions
- Has the authority to act in accordance with Book of Order (G-11.0502h) to validate calls, approve examinations of ministers transferring from other presbyteries, dissolve the pastoral relationship when the congregation and pastor concur, grant permission to labor within or outside the boundaries of the presbytery, and dismiss ministers to other presbyteries, with the provision that all such actions be reported to the next stated meeting of the Presbytery
- Carry out all other duties in accordance with Book of Order (G-11.0502)
