Keynote: Patrick Harley

Rev. Patrick Harley, an East Tennessee native, serves as the Campus Minister for UKirk Birmingham, a new campus ministry through the Presbyterian Church (USA), and also serves as a freelance worship consultant and is the co-founder of Birmingham Beer & Hymns. Patrick studied Philosophy and Religious Studies at Auburn University, while he also served on the staff at First Presbyterian Church in Auburn as a Youth Director and, for a short time, as the Young Adult Ministry Director and Interim for Christian Education.  After his time in Auburn, Patrick served as a Young Adult Volunteer through the PC(USA) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. There, he worked with PeacePlayers International, a Peacemaking and Reconciliation Program that uses sports to engage children and youth in cross-community initiatives, as well as working with a church and a non-profit in a very large, socialized housing estate on the outskirts of east Belfast.

Patrick graduated with a Master’s of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. During his time in seminary, Patrick served with an outreach program through Decatur Presbyterian Church ministering to people experiencing homelessness. Additionally, he served as a seminary intern at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and through the years has been involved in directing programs at Montreat Conference Center in North Carolina. Patrick was ordained in the summer of 2015 as the Pastor of Ottawa Presbyterian Church in Ohio. When he's not doing pastor things, Patrick can be found hanging out with his partner, Caitlin, and their three dogs, going for a long run, or pretending he’s good at camping.

Worship Leaders:

Jerry Chapman

I’ve been a professional musician for the entirety of my adult life. I’ve played shows in 46 states & 3 countries. I’ve written hundreds of songs (at least 20% of them are good) and have released 14 albums, both solo and with various bands. I’m equally comfortable playing music by the Beatles, Chris Tomlin, KISS, Hillsong & the Rolling Stones. I’m currently worship leader for two Methodist churches in Winston-Salem, NC.I live in Mount Airy, NC with my wife, Jennifer, and my 2 crazy awesome kids, Georgia (16) & Matthew (14). I play acoustic & electric guitars, bass guitar, harmonica, percussion, mandolin, ukulele, and bad piano. And I sing too.

Jerry was a worship leader for Triennium this summer as well as our musician and worship leader for Youth Summit. He taught us new songs and helped us lift our voices in familiar tunes. We are so excited that he will be joining us again!

Join us!

Youth Committee is proud to present Middle School Retreat 2019! We can not wait to share in service, fellowship, and worship with you! We have leaders that are seasoned pros and we can not wait for you to meet them. New this year we will be having a pizza dinner for any group that is traveling far and needs some fuel to keep the hanger away! As always, our stellar Youth Council leadership team will be there to guide you in the most fun and most cheesy energizers and games around! We cannot wait to share the fun! This year we have also invited the Holston Presbytery to join in the fun!

Please follow the steps below to register!

  • when the new page open click the green button in the top right corner “Start Filling”.

  • Complete the form and hit the green button at the bottom of the page “Review and Submit”.

  • When reviewing, some fields may be blank, that is ok! It will not let you submit the form without the necessary information. Click the green button in the bottom center “Submit”.

  • Upon completion leaders and parents will receive an email. Church leaders will be notified who from their church has registered as the registrations are completed. Leaders please make sure your participants know your email address so you can stay informed!

You will also need to include any of your high school youth that are on youth council, though they will be rooming together in a separate space.

3) Group Payment: Group leaders will need to let participants and parents from their church know if payments should be made to the church (if paying as one group) or if participants should pay the presbytery directly. When ready, simply Click to Pay and follow the instructions. Remember all payments after September 10th are considered late and will cost an additional $15 per person.

Youth Council Members receive a discounted rate for their leadership throughout the retreat. . If you don’t know if you are in Youth Council or not, then you are not. Trust us…you’d know.

4) Attend Retreat: Come to the retreat, make memories, meet new friends, and have the time of your life. If you would like a Flyer, Click Here!
